“Sponsor a Tsunami Child”

The purpose of this program is to provide financial support for the children of Krabi Province affected by the tsunami of Dec. 26, 2004. The goal is to provide tuition, room and board and basic necessities for the children who have lost at least one parent to the tsunami. Each child is placed with a relative that has been screened and passed a lengthy interview process established by UNICEF.
Over 100 children have been registered for the program. Funds will be provided for education and sustenance until age 18. The Foundation is working with other government agencies such as the Department of Health and Social Services, the Governor of Krabi Province, the office of the Mayor of Krabi Town and other social and health organizations to establish a coordinated, comprehensive program of benefits for each child.
The Sriphong Phukaoluan Foundation is the only officially registered Thai Foundation established in Krabi to aid the victims of the tsunami. We act as a conduit for the international and Thai agencies to continue their support in Krabi in the most efficient manner. The Foundation is also registered as a tax exempt foundation in the United States through both CAF America and The Asia Foundation through Give2Asia. This allows U.S. citizens and corporations to make donations tax free. Our Field Operations Manager has been trained in the Child Protection Laws and is a representative to the Department of Health and Social Services.
Your donations will be used to pay for the child's food, clothes, medicine, school uniforms, transportation and other basic necessities. Twice a year the Foundation runs a 2 day Foundation Camp and all the children and families partake in activities including art, music, education, and the environment. In addition, representatives from the Foundation visit each child at least once every three months in their homes to examine their status and determine the suitability of the benefits. You will receive as a donor, personal information on the child you are sponsoring, along with photos. We encourage visits by the sponsors to see the children, and the benefits your generosity provides.
We recommend an annual donation of $1,000 per year to sponsor a child. You may contact us directly at info@krabirelief.com to discuss the specifics of your sponsorship.
