Krabi Community Center Opens Sept. 2007
We are proud to announce that we have acquired a property that has become the new home of the Sriphong Phukaoluan Foundation, or KrabiRelief.com. We have been working very hard over the past 1 ½ years to secure a permanent base for our current operations. During this time we have been holding medical and dental clinics, clothing drives, food distribution, learning programs, over night camps, educational field trips, employment training and micro-finance, all from temporary facilities. Each of these programs that benefit the 101 children and their families will now be run from the new site.
With our new home, named the Krabi Community Center, we can house all of these programs under one roof, and continue to expand our scope of services.. We have acquired a large (950 m2 or 10,000 square feet) building on 3 rai (1.2 acres) in a central location in Krabi Town, easily accessible by the children and the elderly. The building needs renovations to get it up to standards, but as you can see from the attached floor plans, when it is completed it will provide flexibility to handle all our programs. The large meeting hall can accommodate 200 people, which is necessary as our Foundation Days normally attract about 150 participants. We have room for our computer learning center, library with English and Thai books, medical clinic, children's lounge, over night sleeping facilities and a separate outdoor institutional size kitchen. For the Foundation, this is our dream come true.
We want to thank you for your past support, there have been many helping hands to make this become a reality. However, we face substantial expenses for renovations and operations, and we hope that you can continue to contribute to this worthy cause. For while the children's lives have greatly improved since the days of the tsunami, their futures are still uncertain. This project will go a long way to provide a long term safety net until the children are of an age to take care of themselves.
